For the past few weeks Emma has progressively been getting better at sitting up without any assistance from Mommy. These past few days her ability to sit up solo has drastically improved. She has gone from only being able to sit up for about 10-15 seconds to being able to sit up for several minutes at a time without any help what so ever. She has even learned to correct her posture when she leans forward too far and ends up in the slouch position. As long as there is someone or something to catch her should she lose her balance, she is able to sit by herself and play with her toys for the duration of play time.

The most remarkable thing about her newly acquired skill is how early she was able to accomplish it. The benchmark for babies sitting up by themselves is typically around 6-7 months. Our little Emma was able to reach this developmental milestone BEFORE turning 5 months! Proof that working with your child on their ages and stages milestones will yield great results when done on a consistent basis! I am such a proud Mommy! Another bonus that comes along with her new found ability to sit up are the wide array of toys that she is now able to play with. Though she does have a bumbo, it can be difficult to play with toys in it due to the fact that the chair itself gets in the way and hinders her ability to reach things. Now that she no longer has to worry about the bumbo getting in the way she can play with all sorts of new things! The below picture shows her playing with one of her favorite toys. It is a "Fur Real Friend" That when pressed meows, purrs, wags her little tail, and even takes a few steps forward. She absolutely loves it! Since Emma appears to be a die hard animal lover just like Issac and I, this toy seems to be right up her alley. What a wonderful skill to have mastered! Play time will never be the same again!
