First I would like to start off by telling everyone what a wonderful husband I have! Issac is amazing! Not only does he work 50-60 hours a week with the Air Force but he also attends school FULL TIME and on top of that is the most dedicated and helpful father I have ever seen, and no I am not just saying this out of pure biased. He does an amazing job taking care of Emma and myself, despite the fact that his time is so limited. Even on a day where he has worked 12 hours, gone to school, and run six miles, he comes home exited and prepared to help out with anything he can. He gets up with Emma for her first feeding at night so that I can get some sleep and even gives me two hours each day before he goes to work (his ONLY two hours of free time in many cases) so that I can have some time to myself. He is just awe-inspiring!
Now onto the thing I will be blogging about tonight! EXERCISE- something I love! While pregnant with Emma I was extremely health conscious. I ate nothing but healthy foods, and I mean nothing! As in throughout my entire pregnancy I only ate fast food twice, had fried foods less than five times, did not touch ice cream even once, and gave up pasta and rice almost entirely. I also exercised 5 days a week even up until the week I delivered Emma. Now that she is here, I am SO thankful to have made those choices! Not only do I have a healthy baby who because I was healthy during my pregnancy and chose breastfeeding over bottle feeding, will have a lower risk of becoming obese but I also have a lot less work to do to get my pre-pregnancy physique back. Everyone keeps asking me how I have lost my weight so fast... So here is what I have been doing.
At my five week mark I began walking. I only walked about two miles a day but it was a great way to ease back into a workout routine and get Emma out and about at the same time. Once I hit my six week mark Issac was sweet enough to surprise me with an AWESOME Jeep jogging stroller that I absolutely love! I have since started running FIVE days a week! The best part about my running is that Issac and I run together a few of those times each week. It’s a great way to spend time as a couple (and as a family since Emma comes with us) and bond over a hobby that we both enjoy. My goal is to run a 5k as a family sometime before he deploys in the early fall. I love training with my hubby. It is so much fun and he is so supportive and encouraging because let’s face it, my abs are shot from the pregnancy which means running is HARD! We are such a close family and running together has brought us even closer! Today we started out by jogging about a half mile, did 1 mile of wind sprints, walked 1 ½ miles as a cool down, and then came home and did 50 lunges (on each side) and 100 sit-ups. The wind sprints were awesome and seemed to help us obtain some extra speed. We’re planning on doing them on the weekends from now in hopes that we will get faster for our 5k. My normal workout however is somewhat different. I usually start off with a 1.5 mile run and a 1 mile walk with Emma, come home and get on the Wii Fit. Once on the Wii Fit I do thirty minutes of rhythm boxing with 2 pound wrist weights on each arm, 100 lunges, 100 sit ups, two sets of ten flank pushups, two sets of leg lifts, and several other strength training exercises which I do not know the names of. It’s tough especially since I am exhausted from caring for Emma most of the time but I am really starting to notice a difference in my body! I am now down to 110.5lbs which means I only have a .5 of a lb to go before ALL of the baby weight is gone! You cannot imagine how happy I will be to get rid of that .5lb. I am also starting to notice a difference in my muscle tone which is fantastic, because never in my life have I been this squishy. I am FINALLY starting to get real abdominal muscles again and my arms and legs are really toning up. This is a tough regiment so damn right I’m proud of myself! It is not easy doing all of this on top of being a Mom (with no help from family or friends) and being a wife! Though I love the fact that I am finally starting to feel good about my body again, I have got to admit that the best part about all of this is the time I am spending with my husband and daughter. They are the light of my life and nothing in this world makes me happier than being with them. I am so happy to be a wife so such an amazing man and so blessed to be a mother to the most beautiful little girl ever created. For the first time I feel like my life is complete and that would not be possible without Issac, Emma, and of course Charger .
